Completed: June 2016.

Funding: Wisconsin Coastal Management Program.

Erosion poses a significant risk to development along coasts, and unstable bluffs can be particularly problematic. The Wisconsin Coastal Management Program funded ASFPM and Emeritus Professor David Mickelson–UW Madison for a second, one- year period to conduct a bluff stability analysis on the high bluffs on the Great Lakes. This study provides a methodology to evaluate the stability of bluffs comprised of unconsolidated soils on coastal shorelines.
